Title: Executive Director Hours: 30-40 hours per week Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work required. Status: Exempt Salary: Commensurate with Experience
Nature of Work:
The purpose of this position is to support the mission and goals of the Downtown Alliance to improve the quality of life in the City of Fayetteville by assuring full utilization of the downtown's recreational, historic, cultural and economic resources. Performs professional work for the Downtown Alliance by aggressively developing, marketing and promoting downtown Fayetteville as a safe, vibrant and vital center for business, shopping, living and entertainment. Works to encourage visitation to the downtown's shops, events and attractions. Works to encourage and develop cooperative partnerships and programs between downtown merchants. Represents the interests of the downtown merchants to local government and boards. Provides support to the Downtown Alliance board and merchants. Utilizes the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street program Eight Guiding Principals for downtown revitalization. Works to secure both private and public funding for the efforts of the Downtown Alliance.
Examples of Duties:
1. Develop an annual program of work for the Downtown Alliance 2. Develops creative and effective cooperative marketing programs and collateral. 3. Works closely with committee chairs to ensure the timely completion of goals and objectives. 4. Serves as a resource for new businesses by providing information regarding government regulations, Historic Resource regulations, grant opportunities, small business loans and marketing. 5. Secures private and public funding for Downtown Alliance events, promotions and developments. 6. Facilitates partnerships between downtown merchants, local educational institutions, non-profits, government agencies and area businesses to expand current cooperative efforts. 7. Develops measurements and return on investment criteria for programs 8. Gathers, maintains and interprets industry and market research 9. Coordinates with the Cumberland County Business Council, City and County in bringing new businesses and projects downtown. 10. Manages the administrative and budgetary elements of the Downtown Alliance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Combination of education/experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field and at least three years of professional experience. Have a demonstrated ability to work independently. Knowledge of State and Federal laws governing downtown development and historic preservation desirable. The ability to gather and analyze statistical data, use standard office equipment and work well and effectively communicate with a diverse group of people. Energetic, creative, well organized and capable of functioning effectively in an independent and multi-tasking situation.
