It was arguably the most anticipated WNBA Tip-Off since the inaugural event in 1997. Dubbed the "3 To See," top draft picks Britney Griner, Elena Delle Donne and Skylar Diggins each took the court yesterday in a Memorial Day doubleheader. Griner and Delle Donne began their pro careers squaring off one another in Phoenix. Diggins, playing in her second game, led the Tulsa Shock at home against the Washington Mystics.
The standout of the three on Day 1 was Delle Donne, who looked pro-ready in a dominant performance against Griner's Mercury. Delle Donne put up 22 points and 8 rebounds to help the Chicago Sky cruise past Phoenix 102-80. With her minutes limited due to foul trouble, Griner scored 17 in her debut, including a league record two slam dunks.
In Tulsa, Diggins continued to have issues finding her shot, but dished out 11 dimes in a closely contested 95-90 loss to the Washington Mystics. Ivory Latta led Washington with 27 points.
Breaking these debuts down in terms of sneakers, Griner and Delle Donne both laced up the Nike Zoom Hyperdisruptor in their game, while Diggins rocked her PE colorway of the Kobe 8 System. Take a closer look at what these three ladies and everyone else wore for Tip-Off 2...
